REGENT SCHOOL
The Regent School Oxford is a member of the highly respected Regent School group. The course program includes standard, intensive and Cambridge courses. The school’s medium size means that students receive individual attention. The average age is, however, somewhat higher than is the case in other schools. All school premises have modern furnishings and include a library for self-study, as well as a computer room with free Internet access. The Regent School is open 6 days a week. The garden is heavily used in fine weather, during the breaks and after class. The Regent School is in Sommertown, approximately 1.5 km from the centre of Oxford. The city centre can be reached easily and comfortably by bus (there is a bus stop directly in front of the school) within 5 minutes. Many students prefer to be independently mobile and rent a bicycle for the length of their stay. Sommertown is a lively area with many shops and restaurants, which attract crowds of students during the lunch break.
ACCOMMODATION
The Regent School has been working with its host families for many years. The families offer bed and breakfast or half board. Depending on availability, a family with a higher quality standard can be booked at a higher price. Higher standards mean larger houses and often rooms with their own bath. The school also has accommodation options in hotels and students residences.
RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES
The University City offers many types of recreation: theatre, musicals, clubs, pubs, a large historic centre, or cinemas, to name but a few. The school also has its own recreational program. A welcome party is arranged at the beginning of the course and an international food evening at the end. In the summer months, BBQs in the school’s garden are very popular. On weekends, excursions are organized to Windsor, Bath, Stonehenge, Edinburgh or London.
