LANGUAGE SCHOOL IN SANTA BARBARA
The EF International School of English in Santa Barbara is located in an attractive, safe area around Sola Street, just one block west of State Street. The school is accordingly in the centre of the city with numerous cafés, shops, restaurants and bars. The sandy beach is 15 minutes walk away. The EF school building reflects the Spanish-Mexican style typical of Santa Barbara. The school facilities include a large study and reading room, a modern language laboratory, a cafeteria and 3 lounges equipped wireless LAN for students. The school grounds are extensive and the green interior courtyard is an inviting place to rest. From September to June, an average of 200 course participants study at EF in Santa Barbara, while in the high season (from the end of June to the end of August), the number of students increases to around 350.
ACCOMMODATION
Host families are available in Santa Barbara or in the adjacent townships of Goleta and Carpinteria, a maximum of one hour from the school. Accommodation is in single rooms. From Monday to Friday, breakfast and evening meal are included, as is lunch on Saturdays and Sundays. In summertime, there is also the alternative of accommodation in a student residence in the city centre. Prices and availability on request.
RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES
The school organizes a range of excursions and weekend trips to Hollywood, Universal Studios, Disneyland, and San Diego or to the vineyards of Santa Barbara Country. Santa Barbara itself offers limitless recreational opportunities, including water sports, jogging, cycling and beach volleyball to name but a few. Nightlife is active and boredom is unknown in Santa Barbara, despite its relatively small population of around 100 000. An independent weekend excursion to nearby Los Angeles, some 2 hours away, is just one example of the many destinations.
