TEST OF RUSSIAN AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE (TORFL)
The TORFL language test is administered as part of the “Russian National State Testing System“. The TORFL was developed by the Russian Ministry of Culture. There are four separate difficulty levels.
Mid-level language ability. Ability to communicate in cultural, social and professional topics. Gives eligibility to study at Russian universities.
Relatively higher language ability. Ability to communicate in most everyday situations. Entitles the successful candidate to work in the Russian language countries in the areas of science, the humanities and engineering.
Language ability at a high level. Ability to communicate in all everyday topics. Entitles the successful candidate to work as a diplomat, journalist, writer or translator. Is also a prerequisite for access to bachelor’s, master’s and other post-secondary diplomas in Russia.
Language ability comparable to that of a mother tongue Russian speaker. Entitles the successful candiate to engage in any kind of research and teaching in the Russian language area.
Preparation for the TORFL exams
