HOSPITALITY AND FESTIVE SPIRIT

The Spanish left behind a magnificent heritage in Colombia. The capital, Bogotá, Cartagena and many smaller towns boast charming colonial quarters. The pretty, brightly coloured buildings of Cartagena even form part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as being a top travel destination and the location for our language schools in Colombia.  Locals are generally very welcoming and willing to help. The country is known for its festivities, in particular its exuberant Carnival celebrations. Throughout the year, traditional folk and music festivals are held all over the country. Expect colourful costumes, fancy dress, dancers, beauty pageants, bull fights, and much more besides.

MOUNTAINS, JUNGLES AND BEACHES

Tall mountains, coffee plantations in the uplands, lush jungle and wonderful sandy beaches promise plenty of variety on your language study trip to Colombia. The country is bordered by both the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean. Over 300 beaches, including some of the most beautiful in the world, await water lovers. There are plenty of water sports on offer. The waters surrounding Malpelo Island are a diver's paradise and are known for their swarms of hammerhead sharks. A whole other underwater world can be found in the Amazon Basin. On a canoe trip through the rainforest or a walk through the Amacayacu National Park, you'll come across monkeys, exotic birds, snakes and other members of Colombia's species-rich wildlife.
