Chile is a long, narrow strip of land that stretches more than 4,000 km along the west coast of South America. In contrast, it is only around 180 km wide on average. The country is surrounded by a natural border – the Pacific Ocean to the west and the Andes to the east. As a result of its sheer length, Chile offers an incredible range of natural attractions, from impenetrable jungle to extensive steppe landscapes and magnificent fjords. The country is also home to a series of volcanic chains. During your language study trip to Chile, you can walk along the Ojos del Salado – the highest volcano in the world at 7,000 m. Although this volcano is currently dormant, vapour clouds surrounding the summit make it look like it is smoking.

The majority of language courses in Chile are held in Santiago. This city is the business and cultural capital of Chile. With Santiago at your feet and snow-covered mountains in the background, the view from Cerro San Cristóbal (San Cristóbal Hill) is unique. But don't just limit yourself to the capital. With its incredible salt lakes, sizzling geysers and beautiful hilly landscapes, Chile is a land of adventure. Measuring up to ten metres in height, the stone statues on Easter Island off the coast of Chile are also an impressive sight. The statues proudly survey their surroundings and look as if they are protecting the island from intruders. Chile is home to an abundance of exotic wildlife, including penguins, pumas, flamingos and the country's heraldic animal, the Andean condor.
